A Revived Passion.
Greetings to you all my
dearest brothers and sisters all over the world the word of God in the book of
numbers 6:24-26 says that “the lord bless you and keep you; the lord make his
face shine on you and be gracious to you; the lord turn his face towards you
and give you peace.” Passion is actually not defined but merely described and
this reminds me of the numerous concepts in law that make me stop and wonder
what it is that the legislature suggested we do by not giving clear meaning or
definitions to various concepts. So basically uncle Google says that “passion
is having, showing or caused by strong feelings or beliefs.”
However I do believe
that a revived passion is establishing new and right priorities for your life
and what that means is that you will have to put the kingdom first. Put God
first in everything you do and the bare necessities of life will in return be
taken care of. I once heard one preacher say that “focus on something to the
exclusion of everything else” and I sat to analyze where the balance would be
if we just focused on this one thing but then I begun to understand that it is
a great thing that you might be in school, or have the job of your dream but
don’t forget that all that could disappear in an instant without God’s grace.
We have got to understand that the kingdom of God is the future hope and a
present reality and that one day the glory of the lord will cover the earth so
you have got to work out your salvation with fear and trembling be of good
cheer to all the people that surround you and make it your life’s mission to be
the transformation in whichever institution in which you belong. Many of us
have been called to minister in business, in law, academia, economics and many
others what matters is that the glory of God is manifested in everything you do
therefore every institution you find yourself is an expression of the kingdom
of God. The word of God in Philippians 1:6 says that “he who began a good work
in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” so let’s
have a change of mind that is so strong that you pivot your direction. as
someone said before indeed something better than strong emotions is a decision.
Decide to once again dream like you used to, a decision to put into action all
those plans that u had but let them die within you just because you got afraid
of what someone would think of you or what people would say. Maybe you had an
idea that would change the economy, that legislation would be enacted because
you spotted the gap or inadequacy; it could even be that someone whispered that
the economy has been this way for centuries and that made u retreat a bit. make
a decision to be the change today and with God spear heading your plans you can’t
expect less than the best. Colossians 1:27 says “that to them God has chosen to
make known among the gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is
Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
Just a few weeks ago I
sat in one of my law of contract classes and the lecturer went on and on about
all these concepts and for a moment I must admit I zoned out thinking about how
passionate she was about her work, I was genuinely amused to see such an old
lady so vigorous and consumed just to make us understand whatever it was she
was lecturing us about and I felt her energy
rub off on me in the process and there is always a new calm that sweeps
over us when we are challenged by someone or something and that gets you back
to the drawing board of your priorities and right now as I tell you this story am
thinking of one of the most amazing stories in the book of kings 18:30 where Elijah had to prove to the
people that that his God was indeed the one true God as opposed to Baal they
had previously insisted to worship. The most significant moment was after
Elijah’s prayer and they had witnessed the fire burn up the sacrifice, the
wood, and stones and also licked up the water in the trench when they saw this
they fell and cried out the lord –he is God, the lord- he is God. They
recognized God’s power in the moment and were challenged and I do believe that
there was a revived passion for God within them from that moment. Oh king of
glory we come before you today with an open heart that you may revive the
passion that died in us. Give us a new perspective today and guide us as we
make the decision to always choose you in everything that we do, I pray that
you soften every heart that reads these words and make yourself known to each
one them may they realize just like Paul once testified that “ we felt we were doomed
to die and saw how powerless we were to help ourselves ; but that was good, for
then we put everything into the hands of God, who alone could save us” bless
every soul around the world oh God where there is fear replace it with
confidence and where there is sorrow, may your joy comfort them all the days of
their lives I pray this in Christ Jesus amen.
